Natural Wool Carpets
* Wool is a non-allergenic fiber which does not promote the growth of bacteria or dust mites, or give off harmful emissions.
* Wool assists in stabilizing the relative humidity by absorbing or releasing moisture during periods of high or low atmospheric humidity.
* Wool is resistant to compression due to the physical nature of the fiber's "natural crimp". Wool has millions of coiled molecules, rather than artificially induced sinoidal waves which exists in man made fibers.
* Wool is an excellent insulator of temperature and sound.
* Wool ages gracefully and does not "ugly out" like man made fibers.
* Wool is naturally soil resistant.
* Wool is naturally flame retardant and is specified for those installations with the most stringent flammability regulations.
* Wool is a natural, renewable resource, produced using environmentally friendly, energy efficient, and safe methods.
* Wool is recyclable and biodegradable.
* Wool has superior long term appearance retention due to the fibers natural resilience.
* Wool has non-slip and non-abrasive characteristics, making it a safe walking platform.
* Wool has excellent dying characteristics.
* Wool is more cost effective in the long term.
These are just a few of the many supreme attributes of wool over man made fibers. An investment in wool is an investment in nature, comfort, reslience, practicality, style and beauty beyond compare.
..and did we mention that the carpets are produced in the United States, creating jobs in our own economy...
Why Wool?
For style and beauty:
The natural beauty of wool carpet, including its ability to yield clearer colors than do synthetics, comes from its complex fiber structure, totally unlike synthetic/plastic carpet fibers.
For safety:
Wool is the only carpet fiber that is naturally flame resistant. Wool meets flammability and low smoke emission standards that prove difficult for synthetic carpets to match.
For appearance retention:
The basic character of wool, admired for centuries, has not changed. Synthetic, or plastic carpets such as olefin, nylon, polyester, etc., need frequent cleaning. It's a fact that soil from industrial emissions and petroleum sources, particularly those in the air, are attracted to the petro-chemical based synthetic fiber carpets. This can cause "greying" or dullness in traffic areas, requiring frequent cleaning. The synthetic carpets that require stain "protectors" seem the most vulnerable to this rapid soiling. Stain resistant finishes are not recommended on wool carpet. The appearance retention qualities of wool have long been known to makers of fine oriental rugs.
Why choose wool?.........Nature did!

Our generation is blessed with numerous ways to better understand the fragile balance of a sustainable, safe, clean and fertile environment. Although undisputedly well meaning in their industrial advances, past generations have left challenging scars. Many successful efforts are in place now to repair a wide variety of harmful actions unknowingly committed against our earth and its delicate atmosphere.
The carpet industry alone has made tremendous efforts to clean up their act in order to produce more eco-friendly products.
But let's face it ... Any man-made fiber requires excessive amounts of petroleum, harmful chemical waste and an overusage of ozone depleting energy. Even recycled materials, presently advertised as the greatest 'new' thing for the earth requires vast amounts of resources and energy usage. And even if certain plastics are kept out of a landfill and made into carpet.... Isn't it a good chance that the very carpet will end up in a landfill the next time around?
Please don't misunderstand, we're all for any attempt to help create a balanced environment.
We prefer operating a little differently... Closer to nature, more removed from the harsh chemicals. We have, from day one, used pure, natrual, completely renewable, good old fashion wool... Humanely sheared, right from the sheep, and released into the pasture to grow another coat. Our manufacturing facilities create the highest quality product at the lowest environmental cost.
Please join us in our efforts to a cleaner, more balanced relationship with the earth and its atmosphere. Wool is a natural... Borrowed from the earth .... Beautifying the home ... Returned to its beginnings.

A Perfect Marriage:
Woolshire + CRI-Green Label Plus + Recycled PET Beverage Containers + Soy Beans
As if wool weren't green enough, Woolshire has taken the green issue two steps further. First, the mill has joined CRI-Green Label Plus (the Carpet and Rug Institute's certification for green products). Stickers for folders and displays are available for all Woolshire samples indicating this. Secondly, aligning with a company called EnviroCel, Woolshire now offers an eco-friendly carpet backing composed of recycled soda and beverage containers and domestically grown soy beans. There are some great advantages to this move.
1. Every yard of EnviroCel installed puts soybean farmers to work, and soybeans help improve air quality by consuming CO2 from the atmosphere. Unlike what's happened to our corn industry, the production of this product does not affect the food chain.
2. The tuft bind and stitch lock are not negatively impacted by water. The backing can withstand repeated wet cleaning and will not degrade because of exposure to moisture.
3. The backing can be applied to any Woolshire style of 100 yards or more for a stretch-in situation identical to current stretch-in methods at no additional charge and with softer workability and less wall and baseboard damage than stiff latex backs.
4. An attached cushion option is also available on any Woolshire style of 100 yards or more for a nominal charge which allows for direct glue in hospitality or high end residential situations. The attached pad eliminates additional pad costs for both product and installation and contributes toward the total project credit for LEED certification.

Many companies would have you believe they're saving the earth by recycling plastics and putting it into carpets. Woolshire doesn't have that burden to bear. They use all natural, renewable wool for all carpets they make.
Do you know: Wool actually improves indoor air quality and is non-allergenic. It does not promote growth of dust mites or harmful bacterial growth, has natural flame retardent qualities and is completely biodegradeable in soil.
Not only is it good for the earth and the generations that will inherit it ... it's good for the home's interior as well. Wool is naturally soil resistant and easy to maintain ... it is superior in color retention ... It has excellent insulating qualities. And will typically retain its beauty far longer than carpets made from synthetic fibers on the market today.
We think the world is naturally a beautiful place. We'd just as soon leave it that way for the generations that follow.

Arbrash II: Arbrash II is the sister style of Arbrash, with all the same yarns and construction but with a darker color line.
Bramble Weave: Texture to the extreme best describes this style. The design resembles "popcorn on the floor". A very casual and cozy look that has wool written all over it.
Canyon & Gorge: To represent the look of natural stone, we have designed two new striking styles.. Canyon and Gorge have all the warmth and benefits of wool, yet take on the colorations of rock formations found in nature. The random striated pattern creates a relaxed atmosphere, as well as a bold and formal design statement. Canyon is a cut pile construction, and Gorge is a loop pile construction made from the exact same yarn colors. This gives a complementary fabric to each other, and offers a diversified application.
Central Park: Woolshire pairs the linear texture of Executive Park with eleven combinations of two-tone heather yarns to create this handsome carpet. High rows of wool loops give Central Park a corded quality which fills the interiors with a hearty dose of style. Executive Park: A very beefy sisal describes this carpet. Bountiful is the word. All high rows make this sisal look a one of a kind. Heather colors again bring out the look of natural "rope" sisal.
Hundred Count: The name is derived from the construction. In one square inch of this carpet there are 100 stitches, 10 forward and 10 across. This makes for a very dense fabric. The appearance is only slightly textured. With a range of solid and heather colors, this style will go with an extremely formal setting, to a casual setting as well.
Montage: Montage consists of timeless styling with the luxurious look of wool. This style presents a color co-coordinating pallet of rich heather yarns that will compliment both formal and casual décor. Montage is constructed from Wools of New Zealand for durability and appearance beyond compare.
Natural Velvet: A very distinctive plush carpet and another use of heather yarns that will bring out the natural luster of the wool fiber. Ever so slightly textured, as nature would have it.
Slubs and Nubbs: A true sisal look if there ever was one. A special process has been used to create slubs in the yarn. This makes for an irregular, yet consistent, yarn that pronounces texture. The idea came from the bark of a Redwood tree. The bark consists of highs, lows, thick and thins, that make for a totally captivating random pattern. This style resembles that of a flame stitch in upholstery fabric.
Venice: This slightly textured loop pile carpet is made with a palette of warm and timeless heather colored yarns. Venice styling will lend itself to either formal or casual décor in both residential and commercial settings.
Wooltones: Elegance in a plush carpet. Solid colors distinguish this carpet from any other wool cut pile -- a formal decor's best asset. Stunning pastels and soft shades offer designs and fashion beyond compare.
