The more hot water you need - The more you need a Vertex hot water heater
Through an inspired blend of innovation, efficiency and years of industry expertise, A. O. Smith has created a state-of -the-art product that provides a long-lasting supply of hot water during those times when everyone in your home needs it most. Simply put, Vertex delivers.
Shower After Shower, Hour After Hour
Several times a day, the demand for hot water in your home increases dramatically. That makes running out of hot water when you need it the most a real problem. Until now! Once you have a Vertex installed, its enhanced performance and high efficiency rating means not having to worry about taking a cold shower.
Warm Up To The Savings
A Vertex water heater not only delivers hot water shower after shower, it delivers tremendous energy savings as well. In fact, Vertex boasts a whopping 90% efficiency rating. That’s truly impressive, especially when you compare it with the thermal efficiency of other water heaters (80%– 82% for tankless water heaters and 78% for standard units). The bottom line? Vertex helps you save on utility bills, and helps save the planet!
A Perfect Fit
Sometimes smaller is better, especially when it comes to taking up space in your home. Even though it’s the same size as a standard water heater, Vertex actually delivers more hot water than many larger units. So you can upgrade your system without sacrificing space.
Ed Begley Jr., Emmy-nominated actor and committed environmentalist, has endorsed the Vertex line of residential water heaters. Ed stars in HGTV’s popular eco- friendly series Living with Ed, and he is sharing ideas on how anyone can lead a greener lifestyle. Based on its exceptional thermal efficiency, Vertex represents an innovative product for environmentally conscious living.
Today’s homes demand more hot water than ever before, and the 90% efficient Vertex power-vent gas water heater offers unprecedented levels of performance to meet the need. The 50-gallon Vertex delivers hot water output that rivals a 75-gallon atmospheric gas water heater. In fact, the fully condensing Vertex design is so advanced, it can deliver “endless hot water for showers”…a continuous flow of over 3 gallons per minute.* Yet Vertex is easy to install, with height, diameter and installation requirements similar to standard power-vent units.

HIGH EFFICIENCY WATER HEATERS
Think Green, Save Green
If you’re like most homeowners, saving money on utility bills is a top priority for you. Bringing an environmentally friendly, high efficiency water heater into your home can be a great start. Recently, Congress increased residential tax credits for energy efficient improvements. A number of A. O. Smith high efficiency water heater models are now eligible* for a tax credit of up to 30% (with a cap of $1,500) of the purchase and install price.
How is the tax credit calculated?
There are important limitations on this tax credit. First, this is a single tax credit that can be used on a variety of “qualifying energy improvements” and “property expenditures.” You may claim a maximum of 30% (with a cap of $1,500) of all of your “qualified energy improvements” or “property expenditures.” That means, if you purchase and install a qualifying furnace and claim $700 of the tax credit for the purchase and installation of your furnace, you have only $800 of the tax credit left to claim on your other qualifying expenditures. However, you can use the entire credit on a single product and installation. Second, the credit is limited to $1,500 for tax years 2009 and 2010 combined. If you claim all $1,500 on qualifying expenditures in 2009, you have used up the tax credit and cannot claim anything on your 2010 tax return; if you use only $900 in 2009, you may still claim the remaining $600 in 2010 for qualified products.
How do I get my tax credit?
To get your tax credit, you must purchase and put an eligible A. O. Smith water heater into service in your primary residence between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010. Save your receipt and use IRS 2009 Tax Form 5695 (available in late 2009 or early 2010) to claim your credit on your 2009 or 2010 tax return. Click here for more details.
Which models are eligible?
A. O. Smith Vertex models and tankless units that boast thermal efficiency of 90% or higher or an EF value of .82 or higher are eligible for this offer.
Eligible models
All Vertex and tankless models listed on this page qualify for the tax credit when installed in a residential application by December 31, 2010.
