Clean water is one of the most important needs of our bodies. Most tap water in the US is safe for drinking, but that does not mean it is free from contaminates. Furthermore, in order to makeit safe, chlorine or other chemicals are added. Proper water treatment can eliminate most contaminants.
We have reached a point that, all sources of our drinking water, including municipal water systems, wells, lakes, rivers, and even glaciers, contain some level of contamination.
Contaminants range from naturally-occurring minerals to man-made chemicals and by-products. While many contaminants are found at levels not enough not to cause immediate discomforts or sicknesses , it is proven that even low-level exposure to many common contaminants will, over time, cause severe illness including liver damage, cancer, and other serious ailments. Even the chemicals commonly used to treat municipal water supplies such as chlorine and fluoride are toxic and are known to have significant adverse effects on the human body.
There are 35,000 pesticides containing 600 chemical compounds. Yet municipal water systems are only required to test for six. Many of these chemicals are known to cause birth defects, nerve damage, sterility and cancer.
More than 700 organic chemicals have been identified in drinking water, and some of them are suspected cancer causing agents.
Because of the issue of waste water, we sell the RO systems only with permeate pump. The permeate pump greatly reduces the waste water.
Price: The Tap Master Reverse Osmosis systems are more expensive than the Value Line Water Filtration systems.
Water Waste: The Reverse Osmosis systems waste water, while the regular water filters do not. To limit the waste water, the tap masters sold at Charlotte Environmental are all sold only with a non-electric permeate pump which reduces water waste by up to 80%.
Installation: Since the Reverse Osmosis systems produce water waste they must be connected to a drain pipe or floor drain. The water filter systems do not.
Water quality: The Reverse Osmosis systems provide purer water, since they remove virtually everything whereas the water filters remove mostly chemical contaminants and not dissolved solids.
Water flow rates: The water filter systems can provide thousands of gallons uninterrupted with a 1 gpm flow rate, whereas the Reverse Osmosis system produce water very slowly and use a storage tank to provide good pressure. However, this is not a problem for most households as people tend to use not more than a few ounces or maybe 1 gallon at a time.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recently released information stating that, no matter where we live in the United States, there is likely to be some toxic substance in our groundwater. Indeed, the agency estimates that one in five Americans, supplied by one-quarter of the nation’s drinking water systems, consume tap water that violates EPA safety standards under the Clean Water Act.
The most obvious solution to water pollution is a point-of-use water purification device. The tap is the end of the road for water consumed by our families, so this is the logical, and most efficient, place to focus water treatment.
Note: RO systems have two major drawbacks.
Drinking water helps nearly every part of the human body function. Considering that our bodies are almost two-thirds water, understanding water's important role in the body can be a fountain of health.
Health Benefits of Water
Benefits of Drinking Pure Water
Safety – Purified drinking water contains no harmful chemicals that can pose a threat to human health.
No contaminates – POU water filtration systems eliminate all naturally occurring contaminates like bacteria, viruses and parasites. Also all pathogens are removed such as giardia, e-coli, etc.
Great taste – With all the impurities and contaminates removed, there is nothing left but the clean, refreshing taste of pure water. Imaging looking forward to a tall, cool glass of water as a special treat!
If you have city water, you should consider the purpose: If you want to remove sediment, chlorine and chemicals, then you should consider a whole house water filtrattion system such as EWS. It does not remove calcium or fluoride from the water. If you want to improve your drinking water for local use such as the kitchen faucet, consider the Tap Master Reverse Osmosis System.
If you have a well water and need to filtration, consider a system that is capable of filtering the correct sediments. A water analysis is recommended as no one single system will treat every possible contaminent found in natural well water.
The first feature you should notice about the Tap Master Reverse Osmosis system is that our filters are incorporated into the filter housing, so that when it comes time for the annual filter change, the filter, and the entire filter housing, are disposed of. This is to prevent water related problems under your sink. The leading competitors “canister” type Reverse Osmosis system keeps the same filter housing year after year, subjecting it to constant high water pressure, water erosion, and wear from maintenance. Only the filter element is changed. After about 5 years the walls and seals of the competitors canister filter housing can begin to weaken and decay, eventually failing, potentially causing serious water damage to your home. Advantage – Tap Master RO!
The “steady” water flow from a typical home Reverse Osmosis system will take about 40 seconds to fill a pitcher or large spaghetti pot. This level of performance was unacceptable to the water experts here at Advanced Water Fitlers, so we devised a Fast Flow Reverse Osmosis!™ kit for the Tap Master RO which effectively doubles the water flow from your Reverse Osmosis sink spigot! We never stop searching for new ways to satisfy. Watch the Action Video.
Another very important feature of the Tap Master Reverse Osmosis system is the high grade filters designed to yield a years worth of purified water between filter changes, with both carbon stages made from coconut shell carbon, and filtration down to 5-microns. The competition typically uses lower grade filters made from less effective coal carbon with one 5-micron filter and one 10-micron filter. The competition also uses unnecessary extra filter stages and recommends multiple filter changes per year in order to compensate for their poor quality filters. Advantage – Tap Master Reverse Osmosis!
In designing the Tap Master Reverse Osmosis a sophisticated combination of flow restriction components were integrated into the system architecture to regulate pressure to and from the 50 gallon per day membrane chamber for optimized water purification and minimized wastewater production. Only the most sophisticated components certified to NSF (national science foundation) standards are included in the design and construction of our products. For further system efficiency improvements please consider a permeate pump which will reduce waste water, increase production, and allow your tank to fill fuller.

The reverse osmosis water purifier protects you from the harmful effects of lead, heavy metals, chlorine, chemical contaminants, pesticides, pathogens, bacteria, virus, and even radioactive materials.
RO is the most convenient and effective method of water filtration. It filters water by squeezing water through a semi-permeable membrane, which is rated at 0.0001 micron (equals to 0.00000004 inch!). This is the technology used to make (only the purest, but not all) bottled water, it is also the only technology capable of desalinating sea water, making it into drinking water
Non-RO water filters are much less effective, and the pore size on these filter media are much bigger, generally 0.5 - 10 micron. They can filter out coarse particles, sediments and elements only up to their micron rating. Anything finer and most dissolved substances cannot be filtered out. As a result, water is far less clean and safe compared to reverse osmosis filtration.
What contaminants does an Reverse Osmosis system remove? SEE REVERSE OSMOSIS CONTAMINANT REMOVAL CHART BELOW
Reverse Osmosis, also known as Ultra-Filtration by the industry, represents state-of-the-art in water treatment technology. Reverse Osmosis (RO) was developed in the late 1950's under U.S. Government funding, as a method of desalinating sea water. Today, reverse osmosis has earn its name as the most convenient and thorough method to filter water. It is used by most water bottling plants, and by many industries that require ultra-refined water in manufacturing. Now this advanced technology is available to homes and offices for drinking water filtration.
In short, it is the process by which water molecules are forced through a 0.0001 micron semi-permeable membrane by water pressure. Long sheets of the membrane are ingeniously sandwiched together and rolled up around a hollow central tube in a spiral fashion. This rolled-up configuration is commonly referred to as a spiral wound membrane or module. They are available in different sizes for processing different quantities of water. Typically, a module for home water treatment is as small as 2" diameter and 10" long, while one for industrial use may be 4" diameter and 40" long.
For the membrane to be usable it must be in some type of container (membrane housing) so pressure can be maintained on its surface. It is this pressure that supplies the energy to force the water through the membrane, separating it from unwanted substances. The most amazing aspect of Reverse Osmosis is that the substances left behind are automatically diverted to a waste drain so they don't build up in the system as with conventional filtering devices. This is accomplished by using a part of the unprocessed water (feed water) to carry away the rejected substances to the drain, thus keeping the membrane clean. This is the reason to why Reverse Osmosis membranes can last so long and perform like new with minimum maintenance even after years of operation.
