Caroma, an Australian company is the Manufacturer of a complete range of some of the most cosmetically pleasing and technologically advanced bathroom products in the world.

Caroma set the standard by giving the world its first successful two button dual flush system in the nineteen eighties. In the nineties our research and development team responded with the remarkable 1.6 / 0.8 gallon two button dual flush system.

Proven through performance and acceptance by use in major hotels around the world, our award winning toilets are both user friendly and capable of saving up to 80% of your toilets previous annual water usage. Not only that, with a full 4" trapway, blockages become a thing of the past.

Caroma USA, Inc., is dedicated to providing superior customer service through the supply of premium quality bathroom products to North America.

Currently in the United States, at least 36 states face water shortages by 2013 even without drought conditions, often due to population growth. In North America, one-third of domestic water consumption is through toilet use. With nearly 100 million high-consumption (over 1.6 gallons per flush (gpf)/6 litres per f ush (lpf)) toilets in use in the United States alone, it is estimated that the introduction of high efficiency toilets will save up to 900 billion gallons (3.4 trillion litres) of water each year.

During the early 1990s, ultra-low-flush toilets (ULFT) were mandated in the United States wih poor results. Unable to produce flushing efficiency while saving water, most models failed. Caroma introduced dual flush toilets to North America in 1998. With proven flush performance (virtually no blockages) and considerable water savings, Caroma toilets have established a reputation as a trusted partner in retrofit and installation programs throughout North America.

In 2004, the HET (a toilet fl ushing an average of 1.28 gpf) voluntary standard was introduced in the United States. As opposed to other toilet brands, all Caroma toilets meet and exceed this standard with an average flush volume of 0.9 - 0.96 gallons/ 3.4 - 3.6 liters per flush depending on model.

Caroma Smart™ technology

Dual FlushWith today's movement towards sustainability, businesses and households are looking for innovative new ways to help save precious resources and the environment. Caroma has introduced the first product using the leading-edge Caroma Smart™ technology. It has been developed and mastered over the last decade, delivering the ultimate of design, water savings, and performance.

Logo WaterSenseThe Caroma Smart™ technology sets a new benchmark for the industry by reducing water consumption even further than a high efficiency toilet (HET). The HET category with its 1.28 gallons per flush (GPF) has become North America's conservation standard in the past few years. With the dual flush option, Caroma's new Sydney Smart HET can reduce water use by as much as 2,975 gallons per household per year over an HET. Savings compared to standard single flush low flow toilets, mandated by the US government since 1994, are as much as 5,242 gallons per year. The Sydney Smart™ only uses 0.8/1.28 gallons per flush (half/full flush). It averages .89 gpf, the lowest water consumption of any toilet in the market. The Cube3 Ultra urinal, a new high efficiency urinal (HEU) introduces Smart Demand, the first liquid-sensing automatic flushing mechanism that detects usage rather than motion to activate the electronic flush valve.

Water saving without compromising performance

Compared to today’s standard 1.6 gallon single flush toilets (6 litres per flush), Caroma’s advanced dual flush technology
consists of a 0.8 gallon half flush (3 litres) for liquid and paper waste and a 1.28-1.6 gallon fl ush (depending on model) for solid waste (4.8-6 litres).

A Caroma toilet uses 44% less water than the national standard of a single flush 1.6 gallon (6 litre) toilet and up to 74% less water than a traditional 3.5 gallon flush (13 litre per fl ush) toilet. For the average family of four with a 3.5 gallon (13 litre) toilet, replacing it with a Caroma HET can save nearly 19,000 gallons/70,000 litres annually.

Dual flush toilet

A dual flush toilet has two buttons for flushing, a half flush and full flush. The half flush, for liquid, uses 0.8 gallons per flush. The full flush, for solids, uses 1.28-1.6 gallons per flush depending on the model. Using the 1.6/0.8 dual flush technology can reduce water usage by 40% compared with traditional toilets that use 2.9 gallons in a single flush and by more 76% if using a 3.5gpf toilet.

Easy Height An Easy Height toilet is taller than most toilets and is required for facilities needing to meet the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). Height to the top of the bowl is 16" to 17" depending on the model.
gpf Gallons per flush. The amount of water used for one toilet flush. For example, 1.6/0.8 gpf toilet uses 1.6 gallons per flush for a full flush and 0.8 gallons per flush for a half flush.
High efficiency toilet (HET) Under federal law in the United States, toilets must not exceed 1.6 gallons of water per flush. High efficiency toilets (HETs) go beyond the standard and use less than 1.3 gallons per flush (a 20% savings over conventional 1.6 gpf toilets). The WaterSense label will be used on HETs that are certified by independent laboratory testing to meet rigorous criteria for both performance and efficiency. Only HETs that complete the third-party certification process can earn the WaterSense label.
IAPMO and UPC/cUPC The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials work together with government and industry to implement comprehensive plumbing and mechanical systems worldwide. IAPMO has developed the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC). IAPMO Research and Testing is the product certification body which tests and inspects samples from supplier's stock or from the market to verify compliance to the requirements of the UPC (for the United States) and cUPC (for the United States and Canada).

NTH (no tap/faucet hole) - the taps and faucet are attached separate from the sink, so there are no holes in the sink
1TH (one tap/faucet hole) - the sink has one hole for an integrated hot and cold water faucet
3TH (three tap/faucet hole) - the sink has three holes (for hot and cold water taps and the faucet)
Rough in The distance from the center of the drain to the wall face.
Round Front Plus Round Front Plus bowls are unique to Caroma. The bowls are longer than traditional Round Fronts. The distance from seat bolt holes to the front of the rim is 16 1/2" to 17 1/8".
WaterSense-approved WaterSense is a partnership program sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency making it easy for Americans to save water and protect the environment. Toilets are certified by independent laboratory testing for water efficiency and flush performance. To be WaterSense-approved, the toilet must flush a minimum of 350 grams of water and have a non-adjustable valve (so it can't be manipulated to flush more water). Caroma has more WaterSense-approved toilet than any other brand in the market.

Caroma’s unique dual fl ush system is simple to use, comprising of two buttons - half flush and full flush. One button releases 0.8 gallons per fl ush (3 litres) for liquid and paper waste. The other button releases 1.28-1.6 gallons (4.8/3 litres) per flush (depending on model) for solid waste. Caroma dual flush systems are reliable and proven with rigorous testing.

Caroma Dual Flush Toilet Water Capacity

Optimum toilet and plumbing system performance is paramount to Caroma. By engineering the tank, bowl, and trap to work together as a single optimized unit, Caroma’s unique “Matched Performance” technology delivers more energy from less water. Caroma simply makes water work harder.

Major factors in toilet performance are clearing and cleansing the bowl and the transportion of waste along the sewer pipe
to the mains. Matched Performance technology means Caroma toilets do not clog while fl ushing reliably to save up to 44%
more water than the standard 1.6 gallon (6 litre) per fl ush single flush toilet, and up to 74% more water than a 3.5 gallon per flush (13 litre) single fl ush toilet.

Caroma believes that environmentally sustainable products of superior functionality must be embedded within world-class
design. From European styling for today’s modern lifestyle to the classic colonial appeal, Caroma creates beautiful bathrooms to suit any domestic or commercial application.

Furthermore, Caroma’s high effi ciency toilets have a larger “footprint” than most standard high consumption toilets, allowing for the easy replacement of current high water use models.

A unique, integrated approach to fl ushing, clearing, and drainage

Caroma toilets offer a trapway area that is nearly double that of the North American standard. This feature along with the
use of state of the art gravity forced “washdown” flushing technology pushes (rather than siphons) waste out of the bowl.
This eliminates clogging and double flushing ensuring unsurpassed drainline carry out. Caroma’s Matched Performance saves money by eliminating expensive calls to clear blockages.

Caroma's Philosophy is Simple...

Environmentally compatible products of superior functionality can be embedded within world-class aesthetic design. This philosophy is backed by technological excellence and a commitment to the development of water efficient sanitary ware.

The journey towards sustainable sanitary ware began in 1984, with Caroma taking the initiative to develop the concept of dual flush technology. In 1993, Caroma introduced the world to the first truly effective 6/3 liter two button, dual flush toilet. So successful in its acceptance by the public, it became the Australian national standard in the same year, and thus cemented its position as a market leader- a position it has proudly retained.

Company

The strength and success of the company has been built on the foundations of innovation, water conservation and quality. Caroma was the first company in the world to develop the 6/3 liter, dual flush WC technology. This technology was released in 1993 and set a new benchmark in water conservation in the sanitary ware industry and has made a significant impact on the reduction of water usage in commercial and domestic bathroom applications. Since the introduction of the 6/3 liter dual flush system Caroma has exported it to over 30 countries world wide. Globally Caroma is considered the leader in reduced flush technology.

Caroma toilets offer a patented dual flush technology consisting of a 0.8 Gal flush for liquid waste and a 1.6 Gal flush for solids. Caroma toilets can save up to 72% (approx. 18,000 gallons) of annual water usage compared to the traditional 3.5-gallon flush and up to 40% (approx. 4600 gallons) compared to today’s standard 1.6-gallon single flush toilets.

Environmental Policy

Caroma holds licences issued by Environmental Protection Authorities and Water Authorities that specify limits for discharges to the environment, which arise from the operations of entities that it controls. These licences regulate the management of discharge to air, storm water run-off, removal and transport of waste associated with the manufacturing operations in Australia and the Netherlands. Caroma also conducts reviews of external suppliers.

Where appropriate, an independent review of the company’s compliance with licence conditions is made by external advisors.

WaterSense PartnerCaroma’s controlling entity, GWA International Ltd (GWAIL), through its corporate risk management and compliance group, aims to ensure that the highest standard of environmental care is achieved and is continually seeking new ways to maintain and improve these high standards both with the products it produces and within GWA manufacturing operations.

GWAIL and its employees will ensure that all reasonable steps are taken to lessen our impact on the environment.
