From its beginnings in 1893 as a single sawmill, Temple-Inland has been dedicated to manufacturing outstanding products to meet customer needs.
Temple Inland supplies solid wood lumber, gypsum board and fiberboard products for residential and commercial construction projects. Whether for new construction or remodeling, do-it-yourselfers or professionals, the expanding product line provides a range of solutions to today’s building challenges.
Temple-Inland manufactures a full line of quality gypsum board products for fast, cost-efficient wall construction in both residential and commercial applications. Available in a range of dimensions and with a choice of special performance properties, this is one of its fastest growing product lines.
Gypsum board, often referred to as drywall or wallboard, is a building panel consisting mainly of a noncombustible gypsum core material sandwiched between two durable paper or fiberglass facers. These panels or sheets are used most often as a simple, cost-efficient, interior wall and ceiling construction material for both residential and commercial projects.
Enhanced with a variety of core additives and/or backer variations, gypsum board can provide a range of performance characteristics for specialty applications including:
Gypsum board is easy to install and provides the ideal surface to apply a whole range of textures, colors and treatments for an almost infinite variety of decorative effects.
Originally produced entirely from pure gypsum mined in our Oklahoma quarry, now over 80% of Temple-Inland's current gypsum board production capacity is manufactured with recycled content gypsum to deliver both consistent performance, as well as valuable credits in various green-building rating systems.
Made in the U.S.A. Temple-Inland has never imported any gypsum wallboard from China. Its full line of gypsum products is manufactured at facilities that they own and operate in the United States under their high quality standards. Temple Inland has a long history in this industry and has never received any complaints similar to the ones currently in the news attributed to Chinese wallboard.
As the emphasis on green or sustainable building practices continues to grow, Temple-Inland has a strong story to tell. That’s because over 80 percent of our gypsum board production capacity is manufactured with recycled content gypsum.
Here are the specific percentages based on the type of product and plant locations:
Temple-Inland Regular Gypsum Board manufactured in Fletcher, Oklahoma, West Memphis, Arkansas, and Cumberland City, Tennessee, has been certified in accordance to ISO 14021 standards to contain at least 98% recycled material on a dry weight basis.

Temple-Inland GreenGlass® Fiberglass-Faced Gypsum Board manufactured in West Memphis has been certified in accordance to ISO 14021 standards to contain at least 90% recycled content on a dry weight basis.
The recycled content levels of gypsum board products produced in our Cumberland City, Fletcher and West Memphis facilities are third- party verified by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS). In addition, the gypsum board produced in our Fletcher, Oklahoma plant complies with the provisions of the ICC-ES SAVE Evaluation Guideline for Determination of Recycled Content of Materials (EG101).
Gypsum Board Produced In McQueeney, Texas, is certified in accordance to ISO 14021 standards as being a minimum of 50 percent recycled content (5 percent post-consumer content and 45 percent pre-consumer content).
