From its beginnings in 1893 as a single sawmill, Temple-Inland has been dedicated to manufacturing outstanding products to meet customer needs.
Temple Inland supplies solid wood lumber, gypsum board and fiberboard products for residential and commercial construction projects. Whether for new construction or remodeling, do-it-yourselfers or professionals, the expanding product line provides a range of solutions to today’s building challenges.
Temple-Inland manufactures a full line of quality gypsum board products for fast, cost-efficient wall construction in both residential and commercial applications. Available in a range of dimensions and with a choice of special performance properties, this is one of its fastest growing product lines.
Made in the U.S.A. Temple-Inland has never imported any gypsum wallboard from China. Its full line of gypsum products is manufactured at facilities that they own and operate in the United States under their high quality standards. Temple Inland has a long history in this industry and has never received any complaints similar to the ones currently in the news attributed to Chinese wallboard.
GreenGlass fiberglass-faced gypsum sheathing is Temple-Inland’s most moisture- and mold-resistant sheathing product. Developed for commercial and residential application under a broad range of exterior veneers, GreenGlass also adds structural strength, fire resistance and a warranty for up to 12 months of exposure in normal weather conditions.
New GreenGlass fiberglass-faced gypsum sheathing provides the mold and moisture resistance to protect your next project from the elements and the high recycled content to contribute credits to its LEED and other green building certifications.
Whether a structure is designed with an exterior veneer of brick, stone, metal, wood, vinyl, EIFS or any type engineered curtainwall system, GreenGlass is an outstanding underlayment material for sidewalls as well as soffits and overhangs.
In addition to the natural mold resistance of its glass mat facers, GreenGlass offers the added benefit of the TemShield Mold Protection System engineered into its enhanced gypsum core. GreenGlass scored a 10, the highest value possible, when tested in accordance with ASTM D3273, the standard test for mold resistance.
Its fiberglass facers and enhanced core also make GreenGlass especially resistant to exterior moisture absorption and infiltration. It has been shown to resist water penetration as tested in accordance with ASTM E331 when installed using specific tapes to seal all exposed joints and penetrations. When tested in accordance with ASTM C473, GreenGlass has been shown to have maximum moisture absorption values of less than 10%.
Because construction projects can take significant time to complete, Temple-Inland offers a 12-month weather-exposure warranty on GreenGlass fiberglass-faced gypsum sheathing subject to certain terms, conditions and exclusions.
Manufactured with an SCS-certified recycled material content up to 90%, GreenGlass offers contributions towards green building system credits.
Because it’s a gypsum sheathing product, GreenGlass is naturally noncombustible. It’s also available with a type X core formula for added protection and U.L- approved use in multiple fire-rated assemblies. See the fire resistance testing of 5/8" type X panels.
Due to its water penetration and absorption resistance, GreenGlass remains exceptionally flat and stable through changes in humidity and temperature that can cause other materials to warp and buckle. And that means a longer lasting exterior veneer.
Featuring a smoother, less irritating fiberglass surface, GreenGlass is easier to handle and can be cut and applied with standard gypsum board tools and techniques. Available in lengths of 8’, 9’, 10’ and 12’, it maximizes labor and material efficiency.

- Should not be used as a nailing base or in lieu of structural wood panel when required
- Should not be immersed in water or subjected to cascaded water conditions
- Should not be applied below grade or laminated to masonry surfaces
GreenGlass fire-resistant gypsum sheathing has been tested in accordance with ASTM E119 and therefore may provide a fire-resistance rating of one or more hours, depending upon the assembly in which it is applied.
ypsum board should be carried, never dragged, to prevent damaging the finished edges. When storing gypsum boards, store them indoors and protect them from weather and direct sunlight. Boards should be stored lying flat and neatly stacked. Care should be taken to prevent sagging or damage to edges, ends and surfaces. Placing boards against framing is not recommended.
