From its beginnings in 1893 as a single sawmill, Temple-Inland has been dedicated to manufacturing outstanding products to meet customer needs.
Temple Inland supplies solid wood lumber, gypsum board and fiberboard products for residential and commercial construction projects. Whether for new construction or remodeling, do-it-yourselfers or professionals, the expanding product line provides a range of solutions to today’s building challenges.
Temple-Inland manufactures a full line of quality gypsum board products for fast, cost-efficient wall construction in both residential and commercial applications. Available in a range of dimensions and with a choice of special performance properties, this is one of its fastest growing product lines.
Temple-Inland fiberboard is a medium-density, semi-rigid building material composed of wood fibers and binders compressed under heat and pressure into large panels of various sizes. Lightweight and cost efficient, it has been a reliable part of the construction industry for almost fifty years.
For builders and home buyers on a tight budget, fiberboard sheathing provides rigid reliability, insulation value and sound-deadening properties at a low cost. It is easy to handle and cut, and can be applied quickly using basic tools. Fiberboard is also permeable – it allows water vapor that forms in wall cavities to escape outwards, increasing a structure’s resistance to rot, mold and other moisture-related damage. In addition to the benefits provided by our regular sheathing board, FiberBrace structural wall sheathing provides code-recognized wall bracing strength.
Regular Fiberboard Sheathing's interknit wood fibers offer real job-site toughness. Regular Sheathing holds up to normal on-the-job abuse while meeting the demands of stud wall construction. It supplements required wall bracing and increases insulation value for energy-conscious builders.
Unlike sheathings which transmit and add resonance to sound waves, fiberboard sheathing absorbs sound. It also inhibits water intrusion and slows air infiltration.
This economical and reliable sheathing has been the choice of successful contractors for over 40 years. A proven performer accepted throughout the building industry, it is produced from residues of southern pine sawmills. It's environmentally responsible now, and renewable for the future.
Made in the U.S.A. Temple-Inland has never imported any gypsum wallboard from China. Its full line of gypsum products is manufactured at facilities that they own and operate in the United States under their high quality standards. Temple Inland has a long history in this industry and has never received any complaints similar to the ones currently in the news attributed to Chinese wallboard.
Recycled Content Certification: Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) has awarded certification to Temple-Inland Fiberboard products, including regular fiberboard sheathing, QuietBrace®, and FiberBase® HD based on the use of recovered and recycled materials in the manufacture of the engineered wood product. Fiberboard products manufactured at Temple-Inland’s Diboll, Texas fiber products operation have been certified to contain at least 84% recycled pre-consumer wood fiber on a dry weight basis.

Temple-Inland Regular Fiberboard Sheathing is a no-added-urea-formaldehyde material. It is manufactured with 100% southern pine wood chips and pre-jell corn starch as a binder. True asphalt is applied as a coating to enhance water resistance.
Like most building materials, Temple-Inland fiberboard should be stored flat on stringers, avoiding direct contact with the ground.
Regular Sheathing may be installed with the long edges vertical or horizontal. Center all joints over the framing members with a 1/8" gap between edges. Leave a 1/8" minimum gap at doors and windows. Make sure horizontal joints are backed with framing for proper fastening.
Regular fiberboard should be fastened every 6" along the perimeter and 12" on intermediate studs, using 1 3/4" nails for 1/2" sheathing (or 1 1/4" staples) and 2" nails (or 1 1/2" staples) for 25/32" sheathing.
Suitable fastener types for QuietBrace installation are 1 1/2" 11-ga. galvanized roofing nails (7/16" heads), or 1 1/8" 16-ga. corrosion-resistant staples (7/16" or 1" crowns).
